Sharon Smyth, IAPTP

Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist specialising in Play Therapy

Sharon holds a BA in Applied Social Studies in Social Care and an MA in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy and Play Therapy from the Children’s Therapy Centre. Sharon is an accredited member of IAPTP.

Sharon's Story

Sharon works therapeutically with children aged 4 years up to 18 years of age through the medium of play and creative arts.  Creative therapy helps children and young people work through emotional, social and behavioural difficulties.

Sharon believes that using the medium of play and creative therapy it can help children and young people express themselves, explore and make sense of the world, resolve difficulties and achieve more mature levels of social and emotional development.

​

Play Therapy can help and support children dealing with complex trauma, bereavement and loss, anxiety, self-esteem, parental separation, friendships as well as many other challenges.

​

Sharon has worked in a variety of social care settings over the last twenty years and has extensive experience in family support providing parenting programmes and support to families experiencing a wide range of difficulties.
