BA (Hons) Counselling and Psychotherapy
Clare is an accredited therapist and works with adults on an individual basis. She creates a respectful, non–judgemental and safe environment. Clare believes that a client’s interpretation and experience of life’s events feel unique to them and therefore this needs to be heard and acknowledged.
Clare's Story
Clare relates collaboratively with clients with a view to work on the issues they want to deal with, assisting them to explore and move towards changes they wish to make. The range of issues that she works with are anxiety, low mood, depression, bereavement and loss, health related issues, stress, post- traumatic stress, work related and relationships issues.
Clare has an Honours Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy and is accredited with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) since 2018. Clare’s therapeutic approach is humanistic and integrative. The humanistic approach is rooted in the belief that people inherently have motivation, the potential to grow and change, and to be in control of their lives. Integrative refers to bringing in other theories of counselling, where appropriate, for example; Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) for problem solving and cognitive behavioural concepts, to assist with unhelpful thinking and behaviour. Clare has completed a certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and a professional certificate in the therapeutic use of Mindfulness. Prior to her training in the counselling field, Clare qualified and worked as general nurse.
